This version of Buzz ‘n’ Read incorporates African-American English, thus alleviating the challenge for children who have grown up speaking in this dialect. By minimizing the cognitive load associated with translating from Standard English, the app promotes a more fluid and enjoyable reading experience. As a result, users may find that they can learn to read more efficiently.

A distinctive feature of Buzz ‘n’ Read is its integration of speech recognition technology. The app listens as children sound out words, providing support until each word is accurately pronounced. This interactive component encourages self-correction and helps build confidence in young readers.

The app's instructions are delivered through the voice of a Black child, creating a familiar and welcoming atmosphere for users.
